Bursa is the 4th most populated city of Turkey and it was the capital of Ottoman for 28 years. A daily trip can be enough for Bursa.

When To Go :

You can visit Bursa anytime when there is no wind or rain.

How To Go :

You can go to Bursa by ferry , Ido company from Yenikapi and Budo from Eminonu. First to Mudanya and then by bus 43/A to Bursa Center , next to Grand Mosque of Bursa. You will need to buy Bursa Car for public transportation. Card is 50 TL itself and then you will need to put Money in the card. You can do these on the machines next to ferry station in Mudanya. Now it will cost 27 TL(March 2023) to use public bus to Bursa Center from Mudanya.

Things To Do :

1-) Grand Mosque Of Bursa :

We can accept Grand Mosque as the most central location , so it is better to start with Grand Mosque. The date of the mosque goes back to 1399 which means earlier than mosques in Istanbul , that’s why architecture is a bit different , which reflects mostly Seljuk era architecture. You can even see the shadirvan inside the mosque.

2-) Historical Inns and Bazaars :

You should better visit inns and bazaars right next to Grand Mosque such as ; Grand Bazaar of Bursa , Pirinç Han(Inn) , Koza Han(Inn)

3-) Tophane :

After a 10 mins by walk from Grand Mosque , you can reach to Tophane Area which is located up on a hill. Here you can see City Walls , Clock Tower , Tomb Of Osman , Tomb Of Orhan and you can enjoy the view on the hill.

4-) Irgandi Bridge :

Starting from Grand Mosque , it will take 15 mins by walk to reach at Irgandi Bridge. It is known as one of the rare bridges with shops on it. Another one was Ponte Vecchio in Florence.

5-) Green Mosque and Green Tomb :

Mosque and tomb located in 10 mins by walk from IrgandiBridge. Both mosque and tomb are famous with their teils.

6-) Cumalikizik Village :

It is one of the oldest and rarest villages in Bursa in which civil architecture still remains. It is in a 15 km distance from Grand Mosque. Bus number is D/10 to reach at the village but this bus works hourly and the exact hour can not be known. I wll recommend to use metro line 2 till Cumalikizik/Degirmenozu Metro Station and then you can use bus or taxi , or you can directly take a taxi.

7-) Bursa-Uludag Gondola(Cable Car) :

One of the most known activity in Bursa is Cable Car to Uludag(Grand Mountain). It is located in a 10 mins distance from center. Cable Car fee is 130TL(March 2023) for 2 ways.

8-) Iznik(Nicaea) :

Iznik is a municipality of Bursa , of which date goes back till 2500 bc. While Councils Of Nicaea held here , it has a big meaning for Christianity. You can reach to Iznik in around 1,5 hour by car from Bursa city center. It is a small historical town surrounded by city walls and there you can visit ; Iznik City Walls , Lake Iznik , Hagia Sophia , Green Mosque and teil workshops while Iznik also known with its teils. Maybe you can make another daily tour for Iznik or else after Bursa , you can visit Iznik and spend the night here.

SHOPPING

Bursa is has one of the biggest industry in Turkey. You can do your shopping in bazaars next to Grand Mosque. Bursa is well known with especially carpet , rug , textile and also teils in Iznik.

FOOD

1-) Kebabci Iskender :

As you can estimate , Kebabci Iskender is the founder of Iskender Kebap. I can suggest the oldest 2 shops next to Grand Mosque , the blue restaurant and wooden one. I can definitely say that the best Iskender Kebab. 1 portion seems 205 TL( March 2023).

2-) Yesil Pideli Kofte - Mahir Usta :

This restaurant located in Kayhan Street where köfte restaurants located , 10 min by walk from Grand Mosque. Pideli Kofte is something simple of Iskender Kebab , the only difference is the köfte instead of doner. Price is half of İskender kebap.

3-) Chestnut Sweet :

I don’t have an exact place but you can try chestnut sweet which is uniqe to Bursa. Any place can be ok for that.

4-) Koza Han :

You should better have a turkish coffee in a cafe inside Koza Han.

5-) Arap Sukru Street :

Although Bursa is the 4th most populated city in Turkey , there is not any bars street. Instead , you can visit Arap Sukru Street where you can have fish , raki and tav
