GENOA

Genoa is located next to Ligurian Sea , close to Cinque Terre.

When To Go :

                      It will be quiet hot and humid in summer season , that’s why would be better to visit except from july and august but it also depends if you prefer to swim too.

How To Go :

                    There is Genoa Airport also known as Christopher Colombus Airport in Genoa , close to city center. I went to Genoa from Turin by train. It takes 2 hours from Genoa Porta Nuova Station to Genoa Piazza Principe Station and costs 13,85 euros.

Where To Stay :

                 There are hotels and apartments in Genoa as everywhere else. On the other hand the old city area next to port doesn’t look so safe in the evenings , upper part of the city looks much safer. While i had a daily visit to Genoa , i didn’t stayed at any hotel.

What To Do in Genoa :

                 I didn’t visit any museum in Genoa , just walked on the streets and visited several churches. Let’s mention shortly ;

                     Aquarium Of Genoa is the biggest one in Italy. While i visited the one in Istanbul before , i didn’t prefer to visit the one in Genoa. Entrance fee is 22 euro. While it is also located in the port nearby , you can visit Galata Museum of Marine for 18 euro. There are some districts which are must see. One of them is Boccadesse District but it is around 1 hour by walk , it looks like Cinque Terre Towns and also you can swim there. Anita Garibaldi Passage is another popular district but you can reach there by train. Castle Esplanade(Spianata Di Castelletto) is a district which you can reach by an elevator , located on a high point that you can have a view of all city. I would suggest to walk and see many streets of Genoa but most important ones can be Giuseppe Garibaldi Street and Raffaele De Ferrari Square. Also you can visit many churches for free , the most important one will be Genoa Cathedral.

                                                                          FOOD

       I can not suggest any restaurant or dish but compare to other cities , Genoa is much cheaper.

             Note : If you have a daily trip to Genoa , you can leave your luggage to a luggage store which is located at the Balbi Street , on your left while walking from Piazza Principe Train Station.
