We visited the best rote in turkey before , Antalya. Now it is time to visit second best rote in Turkey , coastlines of Mugla and Aydin.
When To Go :
Municipalities of Mugla and Aydin will be better to visit in summer season between June and October.
How To Go :
There are 2 airports in Mugla ; Dalaman and Milas airports. But we are going to Fethiye directly from Istanbul after a 9 hour drive. You must have a car to visit all coastlines.
Where To Stay :
Boutique hotels and villas are the most common ones to stay in coastlines of Egean Sea.
Things To Do :
1-) Fethiye :
Fethiye is located in the southest part of Mugla.
a-) Butterfly Valley :
You can reach at Butterfly Valley in a 15 mins drive , to have a look from top. To reach at the beach side of the valley , you can use boat tours from Fethiye , while there is no road.
b-) Oludeniz(Deadsea) Beach :
You can visit beach on the way back from Butterfly Valley. Other name of the beach is Belcekiz. It is knows as the best beach in Turkey and one of the best in the World. As you can get from the name , sea is so quiet as it is dead.
c-) Paragliding :
Babadag knows as one of the best place for paragliding in the World. If you don’t have any trouble with it , you should definitely join to a paragliding tour and jump.
d-) Kayakoy :
Kayakoy means a village with houses made with rocks. Nearly all the houses are now a ruin. But still there are some remains , especially good places for breakfast or to eat grilled small pieces of meat. It will take 15 mins to drive from Oludeniz.
e-) Saklikent Canyon :
You can reach to Canyon after an hour drive. The canyon starts from Fethiye and reaches at Antalya. The total lenght of the canyon is 18 km but you can have a walk in the small part of it or you can also sit at the cafes on Karacay River and enjoy the atmosphere.
f-) Fethiye :
You can have some walk around old bazaar area. There is also Tomb Of Amyntas to see in the city center.
g-) Calis Beach :
Calis Beach is also a beautiful beach in the center of Fethiye but of course it is not something like Oludeniz Beach.
h-) Boat Tours :
You can join to a boat trip in Fethiye Marina starting at 10:00. You can enjoy the wonderful view and also swim at the best coves and islands of Fethiye. Boat tour in Fethiye is one of the best 2 in Turkey , other one is in Kaleucagiz in Antalya.
2-) Ortaca :
a-) Dalyan :
You can reach to Dalyan after an hour drive from Fethiye.
b-) Iztuzu Beach :
You can reach to Iztuzu Beach with boats through Dalyan River. It will be great journey. Iztuzu Beach is really long and quiet windy. The point where the beach and river meets , is a living territory of Caretta Carettas. During the journey with the boat , you will also be able to watch Caretta Carettas.
c-) Kaunos Ancient City :
You will have a chance to see Kaunos King Tombs during the boat trip. But if you have enough time , then you can visit the ancient city part too.
3-) Marmaris :
After 1,5 hour drive from Dalyan , we can reach to Marmaris. Places to visit in Marmaris , as a summary ; Marmaris Beach , Icmeler Beach , walking at Marmaris Marina and Marmaris Castle , also you can visit the night clubs at 39th street.
4-) Datca :
It will take around 1,5 hour to reach at Datca from Marmaris. It can be the least visited area on the West shore while it is not on way. Because of this , it will be much quiter than other areas. It is ideal for people who would prefer to escape from crowds. In Datca , Kargi , Hayitbuku and Palamutbuku can be visited.
5-) Bodrum :
Bodrum will take a 2,5 hours drive from Marmaris. On the way , you can enjoy the view in Akyaka. If you are already in Datca , you can use the ferry which will take 1 hour 15 mins to Bodrum.
a-) Bodrum Castle :
Most important museum to see in Bodrum Underwater Archeology Museum also located inside castle. We put Bodrum Castle to the first of the to do list.
b-) Areas To See :
Outside of Bodrum city center , there are several districts to visit ; Gumber , Bitez , Akyarlar , Turgutreis , Gumusluk and Yalikavak are worth to see. Especially for night life , Gumbet is the top.
Note : One of The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World , Mausoleum Of Halicarnassus’ ruins also located in the center of Bodrum.
6-) Didim :
a-) Temple Of Apollo :
Temple Of Apollo located in Didyma Ancient City in the center of Didim and one of the must see. We also visited another Temple Of Apollo in Side before.
b-) Altinkum(Goldsand) Beach :
Altinkum Beach is located in the center of Didim. It is a quiet large and popular beach.
7-) Kusadasi :
Our final stop is Kusadasi. After 1 hour 15 mins drive from Didim , we are reaching at Kusadasi.
a-) Ladies Beach :
The main beach in Kusadasi is Ladies Beach or Ladies Sea Beach is quiet popular and will be crowded at the weekends.
b-) Guvercinada(Pigeon Island) :
You can visit Kusadasi Castle on the island , walking through the marina.
Bazaar Area , Dilek National Park and Adaland Aquapark are the other places to see in Kusadasi.
After Kusadasi , you can go on your trip on the West shore. But we are completing the coastlines of Mugla and Aydin Provinces. I will explain the continue in Izmir Page.
